Poem - Disguises of Deceit

Disguises of Deceit

Love turns to hate, a heavy weight

Chains of fear bind us tight

Anger and violence, a poisonous stain

Guilt and shame, a futile pain

Trusted faces bring only fear

Oppression surrounds us, year after year

Can we free our souls from this pain?

Or are we stuck, like caged birds again?

Love is not wrong, but acceptance is key

To show we care, and set our hearts free

Understanding hearts, ends violence and sin

But hatred and fear, still linger within

Look in the mirror, see your shame

What's gained by playing this brutal game?

Morality hides hatred and fear

Right and wrong, blurred lines, hard to clear

Choose love or hate, don't hesitate

Set your soul free, before it's too late

Make me a bird, let me fly away

From this world, and its endless pain.
